There was no screening on windows and mosquitos were moving in for the evening. Malaria is common and there were no bed nets. I was asked to see a weak 4 year old who was sick for a week with headache and fever, no appetite and dehydrated – clearly malaria – and arranged treatment for him. What challenges they face and how difficult to say goodby! A Scandinavian organization has now shifted its support elsewhere afer 3 years ( about $750 US/month to feed and school 20 children!) when their volunteer moved to another site. John continues to scrape local donations and pray for new sponsors. We will stay in touch with John and try to find support in Canada for this amazing work.
