Calgary Mountain View Town Hall: Moving Alberta's Economy Forward
What does a healthy economy look like in 2025?
I hope you are able to take some time away from the exciting Olympic action to
join me tonight at the Calgary Mountain View Town Hall. I look forward to
speaking together with public finance economist Greg Flanagan and economics
professor V. Nallainayagam on the future of Alberta’s economy. We hope to have a
stimulating discussion in which Albertans will be able to voice their questions
and concerns on this vital issue.
How can we move Alberta’s economy forward? What will a healthy economy look
like in 2025? At this forum I will emphasize that wise spending, investing in
the future, and stabilizing revenues are the crucial building blocks of a strong
Alberta economy.
I look forward to seeing you there!

A
wonderful community, great food, a fantasic band, and fabulous
volunteers make David's 5th annual Stampede Breakfast a success! July
4, 2009.
This year's breakfast was the biggest and
best ever, serving over 2500 people great breakfast fare and the
opportunity to mingle with community organizations at the first ever
Community Fair.
Breakfast guests had the opportunity to mingle with the following community organizations: Clean Calgary, the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta, Civic Camp, My World My Choice, UNICEF, Bullfrog Power, and Bike Root.
With
more than double the grills, line ups were nearly eliminated while
efforts were made to reduce waste by recycling and providing guests
with a dish station to wash their own plates, cups and cutlery.
Sunnyside Market was kind enough to donate donate veggie dogs so that
we could provide a delicious vegetarian option.
The entire event was offset with clean energy by Bullfrog Power.
Fun was had by all and we look forward to seeing you again next year!

While there is evidence of serious ecological decline, there is also vibrant hope and a growing global dialogue as to how we can creatively engage the challenges and opportunities that we now face. This interdisciplinary conference will be of interest to many professionals such as social workers, psychologists, environmentalists, teachers, nurses, social service deliverers, environmental educators, activists and mental health professionals.
